Position: Afterschool Director 

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) Part- time Afterschool Director in the Community Center Division. This position is salaried for 25 hours per week. AGENCY MISSION/STRATEGIC PLAN: Shows understanding and commitment to CH LDC mission and values, adherence to strategic plan, agency’s policies and procedures, participates in agency's committees/events. Supports leadership development & community building represents CHLDC and residents’ concerns in coalition and advocacy campaigns organizations.

Principal Core Competencies

Principal Duties:

Design and implement high-quality after-school and summer camp programming, incorporating Arts, Sports and Fitness, Recreation, Community Service, Academic Assistance and Leadership Development.
Hire, supervise, train and evaluate the performance of program staff. Conduct weekly staff meeting and 1:1 supervision with staff.
Recruit, enroll and retain students to meet and exceed the required enrollment and rate of participation expectation of our funders.
Plan and carry out family events and parent meetings.
Assess and address the individual and collective needs of students and parents and solicit and respond to their input into the program.
Build and maintain effective partnership with principal. Conduct a monthly meeting. Develop positive relations with all stakeholders, school staff, building partners, parents.
Serve as liaison to funders and regulators of programs.
Maintain contractual and regulatory compliance.
Manage budget and petty cash account.
Participate in division-wide, agency-wide, and project team meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned as necessary for the success of the program.

Position Requirements:

Extensive experience with after school/extracurricular settings with middle school aged young people.
Minimum 1 years of experience with supervision of a staff team of greater than 10 people.
Demonstrated Commitment to youth development principles and practice and capacity to engage middle and high school aged youth. Familiarity with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and/or 21st Century programs.
Should be enthusiastic and dedicated to program’s educational and youth development goals.
Bachelors in education, Social Work or related field required.
Bilingual English/Spanish) preferred.

Compensation:

$35/ hourly.
