Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated university students to learn and contribute hands-on while working on our engineering teams during Summer 2023. Current student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and graduating December 2023 and beyond are encouraged to apply.

We are recruiting for the following areas where you can be hired into a role within the group: 

• Firmware Engineering - As a Firmware Development Intern, you will be part of a team of growth minded problem solvers that are bringing to life world-class performance HDDs for our Enterprise customers. In this role, you will learn and develop protocol-based firmware using C/C++ and Python, work with team members to support and enhance CI test infrastructure, triage and debug complex firmware bugs, and develop firmware specification documents.​

What is the RAMP Program? The RAMP Program is supplemental to your day-to-day internship responsibilities. In this program, you will gain deeper exposure to Western Digital’s culture and the different parts of the organization. RAMP Program elements include:

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and graduating December 2023 and beyond
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA
• Strong technical skills and area of study in, but not limited to, C/C++, Python, ARM ISA, custom RTOS, automation and tools
• Software testing background with experience developing automated test script and experience with test development, test plan creation, and developing automation software is strongly desired
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Interest in HDD
