SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Accounting is responsible for supporting the Director of Accounting in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. This role involves supervising accounting staff, assisting with the preparation of financial reports, managing audits, and supporting strategic financial planning and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide outstanding customer service to guests and all other employees by exceeding our mission statement.

- Continually coach and support Team Members to ensure they have the skills, tools and resources to successfully complete their jobs, including the delivering of the Five Star Experience expectations.
- Assist in managing the general ledger and ensure proper accounting methods, policies, and principles are followed.
- Supervise and support the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting functions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting schedules.
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts; monitor budget performance.
- Coordinate internal and external audits; ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights to senior management.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and close processes.
- Serve as a liaison between the accounting department and other departments or external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS).
- Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to its guests and vendors and to assist them as required.
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment.

- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage directly and indirectly all employees on the accounting department. Adhere to the Tribal organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities which include but are not limited to: interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
