About the role
The Assistant Manager role on the reinsurance team requires extensive knowledge of reinsurance accounting, contracts, and procedures. The candidate will use this knowledge to unravel complex reinsurance issues by identifying the technical issues and completing detailed reconciliations that provide a resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, disburse, and settle monthly/quarterly accounts in accordance with the contract agreements
- Review and approve monthly/quarterly settlements
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly ceded reinsurance financial reports. Provide commentary on various reports for senior management
- Work internally and with third parties to verify receipt of billings, initiate collection of open balances in accordance with established procedures, respond to queries, resolve receivable and payable discrepancies, and elevate unresolved collection issues
- Monthly review of the reinsurance premium and loss sub ledger to ensure accurate account balances for the Reinsurance Services team. Formulating action plans in order to resolve aged balances
- Resolve any issues or answer queries regarding the reinsurers’ statements, certificates or related entries in the reinsurance premium and loss systems
- Ad hoc requests from internal and external customers
- Bachelor’s degree – Accounting, Finance, Business, or related degree
- Insurance designations (such as ARe / CPCU) desired
- 5 to 7 years of reinsurance accounting experience
- Ability to analyze large data sets to identify and resolve complex issues
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is preferred
- FIRST and PeopleSoft knowledge is a plus
