Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking an Headquarters Building Services (HQBS) Safety & Health Specialist to join our team in The Woodlands, Texas.  The HQBS Safety & Health Specialist is responsible for facilitating HQ’s compliance with applicable EHSS regulations and adherence with Company OE requirements, including the OE System Manual and Global OE Standards. This position maintains the HQBS OE Manual and Procedures and supports the HQ Building Services Department in OE Self-Reviews and Audits, Management of Change (MOC) processes/documentation, Incident Investigations, corrective action implementation, and EHSS compliance.  The HQBS Safety & Health Specialist also facilitates all communication with Corporate EHSS group on behalf of Building Management. This position will report to the Headquarters Property and Services Manager in the Corporate Manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational safety-related expertise and assistance to CPChem's Headquarters Building Services (HQBS), including implementation support for meeting regulatory and company EHSS policy requirements
    • Job Hazard Analysis preparation, review, and approval
    • Contractor Worker Onboarding and audit
    • MOC evaluation and follow-up
  • Facilitate the development, maintenance, and implementation of HQBS safety and health programs, procedures, and training materials
  • Maintain and deliver New Hire Safety Orientation and Life Saving Rules Training
  • Provide ongoing support to the HQ Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Committee, including Recertification efforts; serve as Committee Representative for HQBS
  • Assist Building Management with implementation of new/revised Global OE Standards applicable to HQBS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Health, Safety & Fire Protection, or a closely related field required
  • Must have at least 3 years of occupational safety experience
  • Must be proficient in OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards (29 CFR § 1910 and 29 CFR § 1926)
  • Intermediate level expertise with MS Office software applications, especially Word and Excel, is required
  • Experience writing and maintaining procedures and processes is required.
  • Must demonstrate strong process improvement focus and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of self-management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior written/verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must have a passion to excel, be customer-focused and results-driven, and have the ability to effectively collaborate with personnel at various levels within the company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation
  • Experience with OSHA's VPP
  • At least 5 years of occupational safety experience working in the petrochemical industry
