Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.
This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulation 10 CFR Part 810, which governs the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the AP1000 project by preparing studies, piping and instrumentation diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements with limited oversight. This position will require working with other functions and disciplines in a team environment.
Major Responsibilities:
• Develop design drawings such as Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Perform formal calculations including but not limited to line/duct sizing, pump sizing, valve sizing, equipment sizing, design pressure and temperature, and heat load calculations.
• Develop engineering specifications, material requisitions, and data sheets.
• Review vendor submittals and integrate information into a design solution.
• Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.
• Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
• Assist in the building of an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
• Establish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied. Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.
