Job Description
AECOM is seeking Architectural Interns to be based in Detroit, MI for the 2025 AECOM HBCU Summer Fellowship.
This position is expected to begin in early June 2025.
The AECOM HBCU Summer Design Fellowship is an opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain much-needed experience in the setting of an architectural practice. This is a highly competitive leadership, professional development, & skill-building opportunity open to current students and recent graduates of HBCUs interested in pursuing a career in architecture, urban planning, & interior design. The AECOM HBCU Summer Design Fellowship is structured to allow fellows to engage one of our community-based partner organizations in a focused effort to develop design solutions that might solve one of their pressing architectural problems. In addition to developing design skills, fellows will be allowed to volunteer with our partner organization and engage in their fulfilling community-based work. Through this engagement, our fellows will learn the importance of our role in the urban space both in and out of the office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
- Performs entry-level work.
- Follows instructions to accomplish tasks assigned by senior staff.
- Meets required schedules while producing quality work.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, or Interior design. and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an Accredited HBCU
