Job Summary
Dominion Energy is currently seeking an experienced Valve Component Engineer or Engineering Technical Specialist II or III for the Maintenance Support Engineering Group at the Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT.
Position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- The primary area of focus will be that of a nuclear plant valve component expert in support of an operating nuclear power plant.
- Specific duties include the development of short- and long-term plans and maintenance strategies to maintain and improve the component reliability, as well as the development and review of engineering technical evaluations supporting component-based dispositions.
- Duties also include providing the primary engineering contact with the Maintenance organization and Dominion fleet on motor/air-operated valve issues and problem resolution.
- Additional duties, if required, support of component functional performance testing acceptance criteria, trace analysis, and test briefing.
Candidates will be expected to possess and further develop familiarity with their assigned area of responsibility. Training will be provided as appropriate to advance the candidate’s current knowledge and skills in their assigned area, as well as nuclear power plant operation.
Engineering Technical Specialist II, III
- Performs routine to moderate work assignments designed to develop professional engineering technology work knowledge, technical skills and experience within the functional area or specific engineering discipline necessary to progress to the fully functional intermediate level.
- This role does not function as a technician in modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Engineer II: 3+ years of experience, Engineer III: 5+ years of experience
- Engineering Technical Specialist II - 3+ years of engineering experience, Engineering Technical Specialist III - 5+years of experience
- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles;
- Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines;
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead;
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
- Strong personal computer skills;
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
- Equally effective working independently or in team environment;
- Proven decision making skills;
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accredit
