We are pleased to announce openings for Advanced Research Engineers who will join our Engineering Services Team in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control marketspaces. Qualified candidates will be part of an exceptional team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System (MDS) to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight.

 

Responsibilities:

Qualified candidates will be providing technical support for MDA Innovation, Science, and Technology (DV). The MDA/DV team is focused on delivering advanced concepts and technologies to transform the missile defense system and outpace the threat.

 

Specifically, we are looking for highly motivated engineers to provide rapid prototype support for sensors and space technology. Focus areas will cover a wide range of technology including but not limited to: RF and EO/IR sensors, asymmetric technologies, electronic warfare, high power microwave, and cyber.

 

Duties include: 

  • Participate in MDS program and technical efforts, including technology evaluations, demonstrations, risk management, risk reduction tests, and transition planning for future capabilities and emerging technologies. 
  • Perform independent evaluation of relevancy and value of emerging concepts and technologies to the MDS, perform gap analyses, and support MDA Directorates in planning resources to support advancing technology.
  • Assist with program and technical efforts for advanced research of future MDS capabilities, emerging technologies, and products. 
  • Provide subject matter technical expertise enabling exploration of novel and/or emerging capabilities that may have the potential to enhance the MDS. 

Basic Qualifications:

At a minimum, qualified candidates must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science.
  • At least 7 years of full-time professional experience in a technical field related to missile defense and/or technical analysis of a complex Department of Defense (DoD) weapon system.
  • Must be eligible to obtain or have an active SECRET clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to work at our customer site on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Works independently and/or leads sub-teams, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and MS Office automation tool proficiency.  
  • Prior experience analyzing one or more MDS elements or components including Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) sensor systems, missiles, space systems, communications systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communication (BMC3), and missile tracking systems.
  • Preferred applicants will have experience in one or more of the following areas:  conducting complex analytical studies, developing, or adapting analysis tools to suit needs, building reusable, well-documented MATLAB/Python utilities, assessing advanced concepts and technologies, and evaluating threat intelligence information as it pertains to new technology.
  • Prior experience interpreting and applying DoD technology policies and strategies.
  • Experience with DoD Budget Planning and Programming and Congressional National Defense Authorization and Appropriation cycles. 
  • Experience with MDA Systems Engineering processes.
  • Experience with research and development efforts for applicable technologies.
