Senior Staff Writer (Internal):

 

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Internal Staff Writer for an upcoming effort located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. The Senior Internal Staff Writer will prepare statements, press releases, long-form articles, public affairs guidance, communication plans, briefing cards and like material as required and in accordance with Navy and Associated Press Style guidance.

Responsibilities

• Authors feature and straight news writing products and provides editorial support directed to the NAVSEA workforce within the Washington Navy Yard and/or its facilities across the globe.
• Products include but are not limited to: leadership communications to the workforce, employee profiles, newsletter content, general interest email communications to the workforce.
• Consults with appropriate subject matter experts to ensure information is presented accurately.

 

Bowhead seeks to network with qualified individuals relative to a potential opportunity, which is contingent upon award and not currently funded.  Incumbent employees are encouraged to respond. No solicitations or third-party applications will be accepted.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in defense acquisition or other federal appropriation / authorization matters.
• Bachelor’s of Arts/Science degree in English, Communications, or related field.
• Experience providing direct support to senior leaders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Experience in communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience to manage small- and largescale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.
• Experience to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
• Experience with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense.

 

Target salary is $95,000/year to $130,000/year commensurate with experience.

 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
