Job Summary
Take a front seat delivering life-changing care to patients undergoing hip and knee replacement as part of a busy orthopedic practice with an early-career orthopedic surgeon. On clinical days you will get to know patients on your own, formulate a treatment plan, and then present and see patients alongside your surgeon while assisting with injections and other in-office procedures. On operative days, there may be opportunities for work-from-home delivering pre-and-post operative care to patients remotely. No more weekends or late nights on the sideline, as most days start at 8am and are done by 4:30pm. Responsibilities
- Deliver amazing customer service as part of a team focused on individual care
- Assesses patients with injuries and degenerative conditions of the hip and knee
- Trains patients in the use of recommended prosthetic/orthotic devices and adaptive equipment.
- Contributes relevant information impacting on plan of treatment reviews, patient case review
conferences, patient reassessments and outcome results. - Actively involves and educates patients regarding their treatment program and outcome goals.
- Assesses patient progress and consults, as needed/required with physical therapist and other
treatment team members to maintain, modify, or change the therapy treatment to accomplish
established goals. - Instructs patients, as necessary, in a written therapy home program
- Other duties as assigned.
Communication
Internal: Therapists, physicians, P.A.’s, administration, other professional and non-professional staff.
External: Patients/families, physical therapists, inpatient and outpatient care providers, vendors.
Requirements
- Active Illinois certification through the National Athletic Trainer’s Association to practice as an Athletic Trainer.
- College Graduate.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and technical skills.
- Excellent people skills.
- Basic knowledge in computer software helpful.
- Current CPR.
Physical Requirements/Environment
Occasional exposure to electrical and chemical hazards; position requires occasional lifting associated
with patient transfers (i.e. up to 50 lbs.); requires the ability to bend/stoop; requires ability to
communicate in the English language; duties may, on occasion, involve exposure to blood-borne
pathogens.
