How you make a difference

Deliver Precision and Care as a Phlebotomist- SCA!

 

Are you skilled in patient care and specimen collection? As a Phlebotomist, you’ll perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with accuracy and expertise to collect blood specimens from federal individuals served throughout the facility. Guided by industry standards and supervisor direction, you’ll ensure each procedure is carried out with precision and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing and Quality ControlPerform waived and moderate complexity testing, including bedside analysis and bleeding times, document instrument and reagent quality control (QC), and conduct preventative maintenance on instruments.

  • Proficiency TestingConduct testing on proficiency samples and maintain accurate records to ensure they are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

  • Compliance with Safety StandardsAdhere to all safety policies and procedures required by accrediting bodies, FDA, and OSHA regulations.

  • DocumentationAccurately document invasive procedures, patient refusals, and other relevant incidents in narrative notes or applicable sections of patients’ medical records.

  • Timely Lab ProcessingEnsure all lab specimens are drawn and processed efficiently, distributing collection supplies and instructing patients on proper specimen collection when needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Required: Documented successful completion of a phlebotomy course.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Prior experience in a healthcare or mental health treatment facility.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Required: Requires unrestricted current certification or registration in state of practice, where such is required.
  • Required: Must pass a Public Trust background check.
