Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Temporary Port Seasonal Operator x6.

 

The Seasonal Port Operator (x6) is responsible for dumping concentrate trucks, clean around conveyor systems.  Operate front-end loaders 966, 988, D8 dozer, VAC truck and other labor type jobs as required.

 

Reporting to the Port Operations Supervisor

 

2024 Shipping Season; Rotation Schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site

 

Responsibilities:
•    Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
•    Operate 988 loaders and dozers
•    Efficiently loads concentrate and maintains tones loaded an hour
•    Assist with pile management of concentrate storage buildings
•    Assist in the port yard
•    Unloading trucks
•    Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:
•    At least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Experience in heavy equipment operating and basic knowledge of equipment 
•    Team player and able to communicate well with others
•    Highly motivated and have ability to perform tasks with limited direction
•    Ability to adhere to high safety standards
•    Able to work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required
•    Able to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
•    Able to perform labor intensive work when required; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the trade
•    Current driver’s license is preferred
