South Pointe Hospital provides comprehensive surgical services to meet the needs of patients above the age of 14. As an RN on this team, you will play a vital role assisting surgeons during procedures, setting up instrumentation, and much more. You will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care offering the opportunity to enhance the patient’s experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. OR 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with on-call requirements

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.  
  • Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies. 
  • Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.  
  • Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.  
  • Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  
  • External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience  
  • Internal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation/90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approval 
  • Licensed military RN experience will be considered  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
