About the role

BPHC is seeking a motivated and socially engaged intern to join our Policy team. This opportunity is ideal for a student interested in advancing health equity through the lenses of public policy and community empowerment. The intern will support a variety of projects that address emerging health policy issues, contribute to innovative health planning initiatives, and help shape new approaches to mental health response.

Policy Research & Writing

  • Conduct background research and draft briefing materials on emerging health policy issues.
  • Support development of memos, presentations, and talking points for internal and external audiences.
  • Explore intersections between health policy and technology, including AI use in public health data analysis and decision-making.

Community Health Planning

  • Assist with planning and facilitating community engagement events as part of the city's community health improvement planning process.
  • Help integrate digital tools (e.g., surveys, dashboards, or GIS) to enhance community engagement efforts.

Mental Health Response Pilot Support

  • Support coordination and planning for an innovative mental health response pilot involving cross-agency collaboration.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings, take notes, and track action items.

Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in data analytics, visualization tools, or informatics platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
