Summary of Responsibilities
Assists the Tool Room Manager to provide tool and die support to all other departments to ensure that customer schedules and projects are completed timely. To assist in overall leadership of the Tool and Die Department and assist cold stamp, hot stamp, lasers and assembly departments in meeting safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department.
- Responsible for all aspects of the tool room operations for assigned shifts and areas as assigned by the Tool Room Manager.
- Assists with the management and supervision of tool room personnel to maintain production dies and related equipment in a condition to produce parts at the required quality level and available for scheduled production.
- Work with maintenance team to maintain presses and other production equipment to be in a reliable working condition for scheduled production.
- Assists with the proper scheduling and standard work instructions for tool room personnel.
- Ensures quality of work completed by tool room personnel.
- Assists with the coordination with customers, suppliers, engineering, quality, maintenance and other related in-house services to problem solve issues to minimize production disruptions and downtime.
- Oversees the training of all tool & die apprentices.
- Assists in the performance evaluation of tool room personnel.
- Ensure proper communication to tool room personnel on and between shifts.
- Assists with all continuous product and process improvements related to the tool room.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Leader Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure Team Members use or wear the protective equipment required by Vehtek Systems Advise Team Members of any potential hazards and/or provide written instructions as to the measures to protect the Team Member
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to their department manager
- Conduct accident / incident investigations and implement corrective actions and Continued Improvements
- Conduct monthly safety inspections and implement corrective actions
- Correct unsafe acts or conditions
- Correct or commends health & safety performance
- Adhere to and comply with and exceed where possible all applicable federal, state, and OSHA environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, external & internal standards and other requirements in all of its operations which relate to its health, safety and environmental aspects

Education, Skills and Experience
- 5 – 10 years of proven prior supervisory-level experience in tool room operations is required
- In addition to above requirement, a High School diploma (or GED equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years of certified Tool and Die Journeyman status experience is also required
- Demonstrated excellent leadership and organizational skills
