In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Data Governance & Enablement team at Blue Origin. This team is responsible for data quality, access controls, descriptive metadata, and data ownership liaison for all of our critical datasets.
This position requires a strong business leader with the ability to lead semi-technical teams, set strategic direction, and own the tactical implementation of that roadmap in partnership with sister teams and customers. Experience designing compliant, automated, and distributed data management systems and partnering with engineering teams to build is critical.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security
- Ensure business architecture and plans align with organizational strategies adjusting and navigating change and evolution effectively
- Supervise the design, implementation, and maintenance of data governance frameworks, including data standards, data catalogs, and data classification
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements, define data models, and ensure data integration across systems and/or drive innovation
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and standard methodologies in data management, analytics, and data privacy, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage data quality and standardization tools and methodologies to generate auditable and actionable data quality indices based on business-defined data quality rules
- Provide guidance and support to business units in using data analytics to drive decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage and mentor a team of data management professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
- Foster a collaborative team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Set clear goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
- Collaborate with other groups and partners to understand their data needs and build a roadmap of growth opportunities in alignment with company goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Proven experience (5-8 years) in data governance, management, or a similar role, preferably in a leadership capacity
- Solid understanding and experience of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and data quality management
- History of implementing data security and access management and automation with both RBAC and ABAC frameworks
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization
- Track record of rolling out enterprise data catalogs with automation and integration with multiple data platforms
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create interactive dashboards and reports.
- Excellent leadership and team management and ability to empower and inspire a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Superb communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated data insights to non-technical partners.
- The ability to set ambitious goals with measurable results and familiarity with frameworks such as OKRs
