Provide professional nursing care to patients in an ambulatory care clinic. Performs professional nursing duties, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care to ambulatory patients, who are at varying levels of wellness and disease. Initiates nursing actions and provides comprehensive nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs to the patient and family.Provides proactive services in which individual and community health needs are identified and addressed in a timely and cost-effective manner, providing high quality health care services. Oversee and coordinate referral systems to assure follow through with patient and providers. Collects data elements as required by grant funding.
Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Follows SEARHC WISEWOMAN Women’s Health grant and SEARHC case management model including primary and secondary case management activities for patients. Develops and maintains active two-way communication with patients and providers. Develops and maintains a follow-up program with patients and caregivers in coordination with the primary care provider.
Administers therapeutic measures as ordered by a physician or other qualified health care provider appropriately within scope of practice and department protocol. Maintains clinic competency in operating specialist equipment appropriate to the clinic. Maintains clinical competency in outpatient ambulatory procedures and treatments which may include intravenous therapy, exercise treadmills, immunizations, employee health screening, and support of minor surgical and gynecological procedures. Maintains a safe and aseptic environment by carrying out sterile and aseptic technique and procedures. Demonstrates correct utilization of computer-based health information system (RPMS), Icare, and other electronic health record tools at SEARHC.
Perform duties in a responsible, respectful, caring manner to promote the most effective provider-patients, provider-family, and provider-staff relationships. Provides guidance and leadership to other professional and paraprofessional nursing personnel. Diplomatically and effectively interacts with patients and other members of the health care team.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
Experience Required
3 years of RN experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of professional nursing care principles, practices, and procedures in order to assess patient care.
Knowledge of the customs of the ethnic groups within the various Alaska Native geographic location and the ability to appreciate cultural differences and their effect on health care delivery.
Shall perform a variety of responsible nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge and consideration for specific patient conditions and treatments and ability to work independently in completing tasks.
Interpersonal communication skills.
Skill in operating and monitoring equipment necessary for patient diagnosis and care.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage time effectively to manage the patient case load.
Ability to make and communicate decisions but seek advice when necessary.
