We are currently hiring a Commissioning Technician in the Los Angeles, CA area to support commissioning aspects of public works construction projects. This position is supporting a public education institution's large construction program. Our education team provides services to K-12 as well as higher education institutions nationally. You will be teaming with project, program, and client leadership to provide premier educational facilities for our nation’s youth and adults seeking to better themselves through learning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commissioning process on various in-house small to medium sized projects.

  • Perform Commissioning design reviews, submittal reviews and closeout document reviews.

  • Create pre-functioning and functional checklists and commissioning plans.

  • Conduct Commissioning meetings and managing the commissioning process for assigned projects.

  • Perform field observations and functional testing.

  • Document and track test results on issue resolution logs.

  • Create commissioning deliverables such as final commissioning reports.

  • Assist in the review and development of staff training and continuing education opportunities.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Project Manager of Commissioning.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Monitor metrics and course correct as necessary while holding self and others accountable. 

  • Provide feedback to senior leaders and clearly communicate organizational direction to team members. 

  • Build relationships with key internal resources (peers, direct reports, & senior leaders). 

  • Exercise creativity and resourcefulness in independently managing the project effectively in a compressed timeframe. 

  • Ability to distinguish between cause and effect of problems. 

  • Actively listen and communicate effectively, clearly, unambiguously, and completely in both written and oral formats. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering, architecture or construction management.

Experience: Eight (8) years full time paid professional experience in commissioning. Working knowledge of building code, CHPS, and commissioning requirements. Extensive knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Certifications: ANSI commissioning certification (CxA, CxT, BCxP, Certified Commissioning Professional)
