Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing professional architectural design and oversight in development of complex architectural projects. The PM2 - Architect manages projects for LSU system from preliminary concept, cost and program development and all design phases through final construction phase, including project closeout, move in and warranty period.
Job Duties:
Conducts and participates in professional reviews of contracted architects and engineers for creative direction and compliance with campus design standards. Assists Director in providing technical review regarding Life Safety Code issues and other Fire Marshal citations for all buildings on campus. Works with Fire Marshal Office, building occupants, maintenance personnel and the Office of Environmental Health & Safety to review each citation and situation, interpret code, and recommend/design solutions. May coordinate with other State agencies for matters under their jurisdiction such as but not limited to the Division of Historic Preservation review. Must have and maintain working knowledge of all relevant code requirements. -40%
Meets with various campus clientele to determine project scope, budget, schedule and coordinates project programming and design between client, architectural and engineering firms, internal design staff and plan review team. Determines which work flow applies to the project and initiates appropriate routing of project for various internal and external approvals, architectural selection. Coordinates designer contracting and manages professional design consultants for projects from preliminary concept through the final construction phase, including close-out and warranty. Serves as University's representative during construction and during disputes between the contractor, architect, and/or University. Tracks and reports project costs, schedules, job delays and approves & processes change orders and payment requests. Coordinates with State Facility Planning & Control, Architects, Engineers, LSU maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure all work conforms with plans and specifications. Ensures University Design Standards are enforced. -35%
Reviews design requests for campus projects; designs & prepares construction bid documents, plans, elevations & details under direct supervision of Director. Encompasses a large variety of building construction types, systems & components and includes field investigation for verification of existing building conditions. Responsible for providing professional registration seal on all architectural projects prepared under direct supervision. Determines project compliance with LA State Building Code, NFPA Fire Codes and ADAAG requirements. Requires expertise in CAD computer hardware and software systems. Other duties as assigned. -20%
Other: In-state travel including some overnight stays may be required for projects at other LSU campus locations - LSU Alexandria, LSU Eunice, Pennington Biomedical Center, LSU Health Sciences New Orleans, LSU Health Sciences Shreveport. -5%

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
Three years of experience in Architectural design for complex projects. Experience with Life Safety Code, National Fire Codes, American Disability Act, Accessibility Guidelines and other compliance codes. Construction administration experience including scheduling, plan and submittal reviews, and field observation.
