The Northeast Health District is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Clarke County Health Department. This position provides direct patient care and clinical support across a variety of public health programs at the Clarke County Health Department Main location and East Athens Clinic location. The LPN works collaboratively with providers, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while promoting health and disease prevention throughout the community.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Northeast Health District, you will join a dedicated team of public health professionals committed to protecting and improving the health of Georgia's communities. You will provide compassionate, high-quality patient care while supporting disease prevention, health promotion, and access to essential public health services.
Examples of duties
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, immunizations, and health screenings under the direction of a Registered Nurse or healthcare provider.
- Educate patients on immunizations, preventive health practices, medications, and follow-up care to support informed healthcare decisions.
- Assist with patient referrals to healthcare providers and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
- Perform laboratory testing, collect specimens, and assist with minor clinical procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist with challenging blood draws and support other clinical staff as needed to ensure efficient patient care.
- Monitor vaccine storage units by documenting refrigerator and freezer temperatures and assist with vaccine inventory and immunization quality assurance activities as assigned.
- Support the orientation and training of new clinical staff as assigned.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic health record.
- Maintain medical supplies, ensure equipment is properly sterilized, and complete required autoclave spore testing as assigned.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support public health emergency response activities as needed.
Qualifications
Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND CPR certification AND completion of all necessary orientation and training for Public Health LPN. No experience required.Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of clinical nursing experience.
