Manager Cyber Defense Ops

Description

The Cyber Operations Support Manager reports to the Sr Manager, Cyber Defense of the Cyber Threat Detection (CTD) team. This role works closely with the Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Cyber Attack Surface Management (CASM), and Cyber Detection Engineering (CDE) teams to support and enhance the organization’s cybersecurity operations. This position plays a critical role in driving team metrics, enhancing documentation, developing career pathways, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

The individual would be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to the Cyber Operations Support team, fostering collaboration and enhancing security operations functions across CS&R.
  • Design and implement career development programs to retain and grow cybersecurity talent while ensuring operational excellence.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement processes and communication strategies for timely and efficient incident responses, both internally and externally. 
  • Identify, recommend, and implement innovative improvement to security services and applications.
  • Act as a mentor to cross-functional cyber security operations teams, empowering them to achieve operational objectives. 
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify necessary technologies, processes, and systems to protect the bank’s data, customers’ data, and infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate with other CS&R teams to analyze and prioritize deployment, implementation, operation, and maintenance of security controls.
  • Help develop meaningful metrics to reflect the true posture of the environment allowing the organization to make educated decisions based on risk.

 

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

            

  • 10-15 years’ experience in the cyber security industry with expertise in cyber security operations, systems compliance, network operations, and operational support.
  • 6+ plus, years of leadership and management experience in cybersecurity roles.
  • Strong experience in securing IT systems, authentication, and system management.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and manage Security Operations Center (SOCs). 
  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to guide and inspire others.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on decision-making and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively under deadlines.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Expertise in deploying and managing security controls or related solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence diverse teams. 
  • Experience designing and documenting security processes to optimize operational workflows.

 

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Security / IT Related) or equivalent combination of experience

 

  • A combination of relevant industry certifications including, but not limited to CISSP, ITIL Foundations, CEH, CISM, CISA, etc.

 

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week:  40 Hrs. (5 days per week)

Work Schedule:  9:00AM – 5:00PM

Location: Citizens Bank Johnston Campus (Hybrid)

 

Pay Transparency 

 

The salary range for this position is $ 122,400 - $ 183,600 .per year  plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
