<p> </p> <p>RWE Supply &amp; Trading GmbH<br/> To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent</p> <p>Your future plans<br/> The Automated &amp; Intraday Trading desk is the central commercial hub at RWE Supply &amp; Trading GmbH (RWEST) for all continental European intraday activities in power markets. Additionally, a large and continuously expanding portfolio of systematic strategies in spot markets is managed by traders. Being a pioneer in intraday and automated power trading, the desk runs a holistic and complex algorithmic framework that continuously trades RWE’s flexible hydro and thermal assets plus batteries, outages, the sharply increasing renewables exposure as well as 3rd party flow.</p> <p> </p> <p>You will work at a top tier power trading desk on Europe’s largest energy trading floor together with experienced Intraday Traders in a 24/7 shift system as well as dedicated Algo Traders. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of over 20 GW installed capacity across various asset classes and our desk looks forward excitedly to additional 3 GW of RWE‘s battery investment pipeline in the very near future:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Commercial Ownership: Navigate large asset options and swiftly adapt to positions of short flex, such as outages or sudden updates in renewable production, consistently striving to surpass market performance benchmarks</li> <li>Portfolio Coverage: Take charge of RWEST’s intraday trading activities across several European power markets in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Scandinavia and Italy</li> <li>Algorithmic Steering: Direct the operation of the desk’s sophisticated in-house algo software, overseeing thousands of deals daily and ensuring precise timing and execution on power exchanges like EPEX SPOT or Nord Pool Spot</li> <li>Value Maximisation: Identify and capitalise on opportunities to extract maximum value from RWE’s flexible asset fleet in both liquid and illiquid markets, fostering collaborative discussions with team members</li> <li>Innovation and Strategy: Innovate and challenge proprietary trading strategies, contributing to the expansion of the desk’s strategic purview</li> <li>Market Expansion: Drive new market entries and product implementations, leveraging internal expertise to drive success</li> <li>Collaborative Environment: Participate in an agile SCRUM working environment, collaborating closely with the desk’s dedicated automated trading IT Squad and software engineers</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Your powerful skills </p> <ul> <li>Hold a degree or completed apprenticeship with relevant further qualifications in fields like business administration, economics, mathematics, data science, or similar</li> <li>Demonstrated skill set in dealing with commercial aspects and analytical thinking, paired with a mindset tailored to a fast-paced environment</li> <li>High professionalism and experience in efficiently managing asset options and adapt to market changes, aiming to outperform benchmarks and contribute to the desk’s PnL</li> <li>Quickly assess trading opportunities and risks, translating insights into actionable recommendations</li> <li>Profound entrepreneurial spirit and structural thinking to explore new business opportunities beyond the current portfolio</li> <li>Sophisticated resilience in negotiations with counterparties as well as among the traders</li> <li>Experience with trading software and/or trading on exchanges in general</li> <li>Be an excellent team player and demonstrate professionalism in collaboration with stakeholders</li> <li>Fluent in English </li> </ul> <p>Advantageous, but not a must </p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in programming, particularly in R and/or Python, SQL</li> <li>First experience in Tableau</li> <li>Experience in back-test analysis for trading and hands-on proto-typing experience </li> <li>Proficiency in German</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>What we value most is passion, willingness to learn and a determined and resilient work ethic.
