Basic Eligibility For A Position With The NRO

Where You Will Work
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) is looking for an engineer responsible for overseeing the work of a large government and contractor team conducting space systems engineering and integration activities to include major design reviews, requirement management and verification, risk identification and mitigation, technical analysis supporting design trades, CONOPs development, advanced studies, pre-acquisition and acquisition activities, system activation and calibration, ground segment integration and interface management with external segments. Incumbent will guide technical aspects of contract actions, proposal evaluation, specification changes, technical tradeoffs, corrective actions, workarounds, and the evaluation of contractors' performance. Incumbent will also interface with industry and government team members to resolve space segment system engineering issues.
This position serves as a National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Cadre General Engineer providing technical and professional advice on engineering issues affecting the NRO. The NRO develops and operates unique and innovative overhead reconnaissance systems and conducts intelligence activities essential to for the U.S National Security. The work involves planning, evaluating, and executing programs, which impact national security; and/or extending the existing parameters of engineering or architecture knowledge and its application and practice. Work products or services of the position affects the work of other experts and the development of major aspects of administrative or scientific programs and missions. Performance of assigned programs requires the tasking and oversight of a wide variety of scientific, engineering, and support personnel. The work also requires making many decisions to resolve specific complex or intricate issues and problems; developing new methods and criteria; or proposing new policies and practices. Oversight responsibilities of the position may require NRO Contracting Officer Technical Representative qualification within NRO policy timelines.
