Summary

This Assistant Professional-Hospitalist position provides comprehensive medical care to newborns in the well-baby nursery, including routine assessments, clinical management, and participation in deliveries as needed. The clinician will partner closely with families to support education, safe-care practices, and smooth transitions to home. The role includes teaching and mentorship of trainees, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to promote high quality newborn care. This position plays a vital role in ensuring safe, evidence based, family-centered care for all newborns in the service.

 

Education:

 MD or DO with completion of pediatric residency or equivalent neonatal training.

 

Experience:

  • Prior experience in newborn nursery care, delivery attendance, or neonatal procedures preferred.
  • Certifications: Board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics; current NRP certification required.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in newborn medicine.
  • Excellent communication and family engagement abilities.
  • Competence in newborn procedures (e.g., circumcision).
  • Ability to teach and mentor trainees effectively.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, safety culture, and collaborative interdisciplinary practice.
