Friendship is looking for a Dietary Manager to join our Friendship Health and Rehab North team, located in Roanoke, VA. The Dietary Manager is responsible for providing excellent meal preparation to residents, outpatients, visitors and employees, to ensure food safety and kitchen sanitation for the well-being of our residents and staff, and to assist the Director of Dietary in all aspects of healthcare kitchen compliances and to be motivated in assuring the success of the Dietary Department.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Ensures that the dietary department operates efficiently and safely.
• Responsible for the performance of direct reports as well as maintaining high standards of quality of food, service, and health and safety.
• Monitors inventory and purchasing for dietary department and reports to Director.
• Develops the scheduling of work assignments and supervision of dietary personnel.
• Assumes the role of Supervisor when needed to insure shifts are covered and personnel is productive.
• Manages the receiving, storage, preparation and serving of food.
Qualifications:
• Able to read and understand menus and diet orders.
• Strong culinary knowledge, food safety knowledge, and production skills
• Good organizational skills for dealing with diverse duties and staff
• Must be up-to-date on all regulations and health codes and perform regular inspections to ensure compliance
• Pleasant, polite manner for dealing with public as well as staff and maintain an appropriate disposition for work in geriatric population
• Must have direct knowledge of online food ordering, inventory management, production needs and adequate with diet tracking systems.
• The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
• Must have knowledge of OBRA regulations
• 2 to 4 years relevant experience in kitchen management preferably in a healthcare setting
• Serve Safe certified
• High school diploma or GED
