General Information:

Senior Control Engineering Specialist positions offered by Hitachi Energy USA Inc. (Raleigh, NC).

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop robust and efficient automation for power systems, with focus on microgrid and BESS (battery energy storage system) applications. 
• Support SCADA development and customer discussions to translate requirements into effective solutions based on product offerings. 
• Apply and build upon control libraries to optimize new or retrofitted power systems.  Perform simulated testing and on-site commissioning tasks.  Lead or direct troubleshooting activities to determine root cause of issues and provide corrective solutions. 
• Develop networking and system architecture to ensure high quality data transmission to upstream controls system and between decentralized communication networks (P2P communication). 
• Provide control points using industry standard protocols (Modbus and DNP required).

Your Background:

• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in electrical engineering or related field with coursework in automation or control systems and 8 years of experience in the position offered or 8 years of experience troubleshooting product software and system networks; and selecting application specific protocols and implementing into control structure for end user operation.
• In lieu of a bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields and 8 years of experience as stated, employer will accept 10 years of experience.
• Requires 8 years of experience designing, implementing, commissioning and providing service support for power systems control. Requires 4 years of experience: applying power systems control engineering to battery storage or microgrid applications; and integrating inverters and battery management systems.
• Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently. Position reports to Raleigh, NC office.  Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.
