The Project Engineer is responsible for the commercial, financial, and technical success and execution and delivery of projects designed to meet specific customer needs and goals. The Project Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through others. 


This role requires an ability to meet objectives, schedules, profitability, and customer satisfaction in an engineering and commercial manufacturing environment. The Project Engineer typically leads multiple project efforts and manages the detailed technical schedule and financial performance of the project to deliver a quality product, on time and at the lowest achievable cost. The Project Engineer must collaborate with customers, management, and associates for the best solutions. This position will require ongoing updates to management and customers on program status, milestones, and objectives. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Role requires ownership of projects ranging from $10,000 to $2.0M+, including activity planning, scheduling, technical reviews, time management of resources, purchasing/procurement, invoicing, change order management, performance management, and success of the project.
  • Assist in commercial estimating and project scope definition 
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Performs technical customer site visits for won projects to gather design data and measurements for preparation of design basis, engineering, and project coordination.
  • Prepare preliminary CAD designs. 
  • Establishes work plan and resources for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modified schedules or plans as required.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems that may arise onsite.
  • Subcontractor/vendor selection and management required.
  • Expense management required.
  • Point of customer contact for project status; establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers through frequent oral and written communication.
  • Ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures throughout all phases of the project

Requirements


  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in managing projects in a project construction/engineering environment, preferred 
  • Engineering, Construction, or related technical degree, preferred.
  • Highly proficient in reading construction/shop drawings, technical literature, and other construction documents
  • Experience supporting sales efforts and presenting both strategic and technical solutions.
  • Experience using project scheduling software and excellent computer skills.
  • Experience in structural steel and concrete construction 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills along with the ability to collaborate with peers, partners, and leaders.
  • Must be able to frequently work at heights with the use of fall-protection/fall-arrest equipment.
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles both owned and rented.
  • Must be able to gain access to secure facilities which require strict background checks and drug screens.
  • Must be able to travel +25% of the time.
