General Description and Classification Standards:
Performs project management tasks at a professional level, working with the Director of Park Planning and Design and DPR Senior Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering projects from start to finish in accordance with the Program Management Plan, serving as the subject-matter expert on the project’s scope, schedule, and budget.


This is a fully seasoned professional level capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of the profession. This is a single position and not part of a promotional series.

Supervision Received:
Works under very general supervision. Depending on the organization structure, may work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Manage projects from conception to completion, including work performed by both internal and external resources.
  • Engage with community members and city colleagues regarding ongoing and past project delivery and planning efforts.
  • Establish budget, prepare project schedules and monitor adherence to terms.
  • Coordinate engineering work to ensure compliance with the design concept.
  • Perform code and zoning analyses.
  • Surveys and documents existing conditions in the field.
  • Communicates and coordinate with external and internal team members.
  • Stays current with graphic standards and building construction.
  • Researches construction materials and systems.
  • Develop project fee proposals, RFQ’s and RFP’s.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines without comprising design intent or internal relationships.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.
  • Advanced presentation and graphic communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
  • Solid background and understanding of the technical aspects of Architecture.
  • Solid background and understanding of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

Other duties may include, based on area of assignment: 

  • Provides technical support for both internal and external customers.
  • Attends/participates in meetings for major projects, legal review, and project managers.
  • Provides prompt response to phone calls and emails.
  • Engages in community involvement.
  • Manages consultants (project management plans, invoices, meetings, etc.).
  • Provides leader-based oversight of command center resources responsible for the deployment of vehicles and manned resources throughout the city of Atlanta.
  • Solves complex logistical problems utilizing industry standard tools in routing software, COA cameras, and GIS Mapping technology.
  • Develops recommendations to streamline processes, improve resource allocation, and leverage innovative technologies.
  • Provides oversight in gathering and analyzing technology requirements on behalf of the department.
  • Leads cross-functional technology initiatives using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques.
  • Performs data analysis to proactively identify and/or resolve problems per operational standards and procedures.
  • Assists other management team members in identifying trends and establishing departmental goals.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge of new industry technology and reports appropriate information to the executive team.
  • Provides input regarding decisions impacting technology and operational systems in the Department.
  • Manages progress meetings to review the status of ongoing projects and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Reviews work progress and data deliverables to ensure projects are within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Leads and oversees the operations for MOIP (Service Catalog, metric dashboards).
  • Tracks KPIs and performance benchmarks for monthly and quarterly reporting from various departments.
  • Implements process improvements for MOIP processes and SOP development.
  • Manages project/program/portfolio management governance.
  • Conducts quality assurance/quality control checks for metrics, metric assessments & recommendations to departments.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
