Responsibilities
This role is responsible for developing and leading the Healthy Living strategy and execution of a significant Mission-based portfolio of healthy living programs. Responsible for establishing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide strategic plan and for delivering measurable increases in American Heart Association’s impact of the Healthy Living programs and products. Responsible for leading evaluation and design development to achieve health impact, awareness, engagement, recruitment, and retention in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders.
- Develops and directs the implementation of an organization-wide strategic plan and goals for the Healthy Living products and programs. Ensures performance metrics for critical portfolio operational plans are established to measure achievement and success. Manages a department of experienced professionals and managers who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Focuses on policy and strategy implementation for the sub function or business unit for short and long-term results.
- Leads Program Advisors who create cross-Association working groups to plan, review progress, identify issues and ensure coordinated work to accomplish program and portfolio goals. Guides and directs a matrix team in plan execution to assure integrated and cohesive.
- Oversees budget, cost, and staff resources for the successful implementation of programs within the portfolio.
- Acts as key point of contact for national partners and represents the organization externally on healthy living issues related to the assigned portfolio audience at the national level.
- Provides senior leadership with recommendations for resource development and project priorities. Facilitates portfolio projects with Development (National Corporate Relations, Field Corporate Relations and Mission Advancement) to secure resources to execute portfolio strategies.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family.
Qualifications
- MBA, MPH, Master of Science in Nutrition or related field
- Twelve (12) to sixteen (16) years of experience developing business models and operational plans
- Ten (10) years of experience managing subject matter experts and operations managers
- Ten (10) years of experience program development, planning and management
- Eight (8) years of experience in public health or non-profit services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Funder/fundraising for restricted initiatives experience
- Master’s Degree in Public Health
- Experience working with national level executive volunteers and national boards
Compensation & Benefits
Expected pay range will be $160,000 to $180,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
