Job Description
Solae LLC, a division of International Fragrances and Flavors has an immediate opening for a Utility Laboratory Technician. This position will be a Monday through Friday 8-hour day position, with the hours of 7AM – 3:30PM. Some weekend coverage may be required. If weekend coverage is required, the Utility Laboratory Technician would have 2 days off during the week.
- The position would be 20 hours working in the plant as sanitation and 20 hours in the laboratory or where needed.
- For internal applicants, this is an interview position and not based on seniority.

Role purpose
- Half of this job (approximately 20 hours a week) will be to learn laboratory operations.
- The applicant will become proficient in many laboratory applications.
- Data entry may be made into Microsoft Excel or Word.
- The other half of the job will be to support sanitation or operations.
- Ideally the candidate will become an asset to both the sanitation and laboratory departments.
- Weekly flexibility may be required to cover vacations and other absences.

- Responsible for area specific EHS procedure/policy

- Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others and the environment
- Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken
- Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHS Support’s activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost-effective manner
Main accountabilities
- Be able to perform calibrations and troubleshooting of analytical equipment
- Familiarity with quality systems in a regulated environment including GMP and GLP requirements
- A team player that possesses strong analytical, oral/written communication (in English) and computer skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision
- Communication to Management, Supervisors or leads when undesirable results are obtained.
- Inventory control. Making sure supplies are in stock, and when deliveries come, that stock is put away.

- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand or walk.
- The employee needs to use hands and fingers and be able to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee should be able to climb or balance; work from heights, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee should have close vision, and ability see color and adjust focus.
- The employee should be able to lift 60 pounds.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job:
- The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles (including soy), moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weat
