As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead mechanical design activities as part of a product development team to develop lighting systems, enclosures, storage, and transport fixtures for various industries and end customers. Your collaborative efforts will extend across various engineering disciplines, encompassing electrical, firmware, software, and laboratory teams. Working with cross-functional units, including manufacturing, purchasing, customer service, and quality assurance, you will ensure the successful development and launch of premium-quality products. Your responsibilities will also encompass the design, testing, and development of products and their components, aligning with our company's and industry's exacting standards. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Project Management, Support and Leadership:
- Collaborate with Product Management and other functions to create and revise product design specifications.
- Provide expert technical support and assistance to various departments, including Operations/Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, Lab Supervision, Product Managers, and Purchasing.
- Identify potential technical improvements for existing products, processes, or services, as well as opportunities for cost reduction.
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing, maintaining, and updating Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs), and assist in the creation of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) and Process Control Plans.
- Mechanical System Design and Development:
- Design and engineer mechanical systems and components for various devices, adhering to company and industry standards, encompassing enclosures, brackets, bearings, seals, controls, and more.
- Conduct in-depth analysis, simulations, and calculations to assess and enhance the performance, efficiency, and durability of components and systems.
