Job Description
Manages and develops Capital Markets analysts in their handling of syndicated transactions, credit structuring and analysis responsibilities. Oversees the staffing requirements of the analysts on transactions. Coordinates with Finance division on Capital Markets reporting metrics for executive management. Collaborates with TDI and Experience Management teams to further technological advancements in the Capital Markets platforms. Serves as subject matter expert and is assigned special projects.
Essential Functions
- Manages analysts and assists them in their individual development. Provides leadership and guidance in a team approach to transaction management and administration. Sets performance standards, manages workflow, grants authorities, evaluates performance, and recommends personnel actions within delegated authorities. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
- Serves as an analyst on assigned transactions and co-staff transactions with less experienced analysts.
- Processes amendments, consents and waivers with routine communication with bank groups, as needed.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the loan markets and the industries served by the Farm Credit System and stays up to date on the business and economic environment to facilitate information sharing and development for the analyst team.
- Leads the development and administration of the development program for Capital Markets analysts. Duties include recruiting, hiring, credit training and development, capital markets training and development, monitoring progress of analysts, organizing and coordinating the rotation schedule, and providing individual coaching and feedback. Coordinating with Capital Markets personnel and other subject matter experts in the bank where necessary for training and development of analyst staff. Analyzing program succeses and areas that need to evolve and change.
- Act as the lead trainer developing credit underwriting skills of Capital Markets analysts. Relying on their own credit underwriting experience (see experience requirement below), supplemented by additional training materials, ensures employees understand the basics of credit underwriting, how those principles apply to industries served by CoBank and the Farm Credit System, and how to read, interpret, and use credit reports for Capital Markets purposes.
- Interfaces with the Finance division and is responsible for Capital Markets quarterly reporting metrics and annual budget.
- As a member of the Capital Markets Leadership Team, helps establish overall business and administration targets for the Capital Markets division. Counsels with Business Development, Syndicate, Sales and LIST team management to establish and achieve analyst team targets.
- Collaborates with the E2E Experience Manager and Product Managers to define and prioritize technological advancement requests and determine business value. Serves as the subject matter expert from Capital Markets and represents the division at Product and Agility team meetings, UAT testing, training and support for the launch of new product solutions, and assist in establishing KPI’s and tracking against those KPI’s.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, finance, accounting, economics, agribusiness, etc. required
Work Experience
- 5 years of experience in capital markets, in origination, sale, execution, and/or operational and administrative aspects of complex corporate, syndicated, and participated credits required
- 3 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably related to industries served by CoBank or the Farm Credit
