Summary
Assists in the implementation and program management and develops, implements, and monitors treatment protocols and performance improvement activities. Performs neurological nursing assessments, abstracts clinical data, and maintains the database system.
Job Duties
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation. and evaluation of structured care methodologies inclusive of clinical pathways, case facilitation, algorithms, clinical procedures, guidelines, protocols, and standing orders.
- Collaborates to ensure that the stroke care processes are appropriately implemented including timely triage and completion of the diagnostic testing and clinical review.
- Utilizes evidence-based research findings, attends research educational offerings, and assists with data collection; collaborates to identify potential stroke research participants.
- Facilitates transition of care activities such as patient/caregiver support group, post-discharge phone call, and 90-day telephone interview using neurological outcome rating scales.
- Assesses, plans; implements and evaluates the care for stroke patients.
- Assumes responsibility of data collection and data management.
- Participates as core faculty for stroke-related RN and EMS courses.
- Develops and delivers informative presentations supporting stroke program performance improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Nursing
- 7 years Neurology. and
- 7 years Direct provision of patient care activities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for stroke patient population.
- Computer literacy, database/data-mining, data retrieval, and data analysis.
- Understanding of stroke certification standards.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
- RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and
- CNRN-Certified Neuroscience RN ABNN - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
- SCRN - Certified Stroke Registered Nurse ABNN - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
- NIHSS - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
