Job Description

AECOM is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer to be based in Cleveland, OH. This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
• Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
• Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
• Assist with the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing and fire protection for commercial and institutional facilities
• Assist with field work and/or facility condition assessments
• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Qualifications

Minimum Qualificitations:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
• High level of comfort working both from the office and in the field with varying schedules. Previous work within multidisciplinary teams to include architects, engineers, specialty contractors, etc.
• Sustainability, energy efficiency, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus, but not a requirement
• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
• Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as Trane Trace, Revit and AutoCAD)
• Knowledge and interest in the architectural/engineering field designing HVAC and plumbing systems
• Training and/or familiarity with facility assessments and/or inspections
• Ability to travel to inspection sites to conduct field work
• Ability to prioritize tasks on a daily basis
• The ability to work closely with a small group of professionals in various disciplines with successful outcomes
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills

• Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually
