Job Description
AECOM is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer to be based in Cleveland, OH. This position is expected to begin in June 2024.
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
- Assist with the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing and fire protection for commercial and institutional facilities
- Assist with field work and/or facility condition assessments
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Qualifications
Minimum Qualificitations:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
- High level of comfort working both from the office and in the field with varying schedules. Previous work within multidisciplinary teams to include architects, engineers, specialty contractors, etc.
- Sustainability, energy efficiency, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus, but not a requirement
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as Trane Trace, Revit and AutoCAD)
- Knowledge and interest in the architectural/engineering field designing HVAC and plumbing systems
- Training and/or familiarity with facility assessments and/or inspections
- Ability to travel to inspection sites to conduct field work
- Ability to prioritize tasks on a daily basis
- The ability to work closely with a small group of professionals in various disciplines with successful outcomes
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

- Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually
