Job Description

This is a first line supervisory position for Operations employees.  This position must be able to lead, coach and mentor to achieve day-to-day production goals. This position serves as a role model of the results and behaviors expected of Danfoss employees.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • •    Safety-expectation is zero recordables or lost time injuries for their cells and ensure all Safety Incidents are reported in GIMS (Global Incident Management System).  An asset incident (process) will be required for all machine incidents where something occurs that is not expected.
    •    Quality-expectation is that all employees are trained, can demonstrate competency in standard work, follow control plans, and accountable for scrap/rework in their areas.  May be required to audit and write standard work as appropriate.  Review of process & product quality & recommending improvements to both. 
    •    Schedule adherence & delivery- expectation is 100% on-time delivery, responsible for execution of the master schedule and to reschedule employees and prepare contingency plans for schedule delivery when lines are down. Manage and train teams to ensure TPE activities are performed to designated schedules.
    •    Productivity expectation is to meet Productivity goals for their areas and use DPP tools/process, Shop Floor Audit, 5S and one-piece flow to improve efficiency and drive continuous improvements in their areas.  Recommend and assist with management of overtime and downtime of the workforce to stay within Productivity goals.
    •    Attendance Administration: Responsible for adhering to break schedule, managing time off requests and time off usage to ensure coverage on the schedule prior to time off approval. Responsible for accurate employee time cards.
    •    Performance Management: complete annual performance management plans for direct reports and individual development plans.  Ensure expectations are clearly communicated and employees are held accountable for behaviours and results.  Manage DPP skills matrix to ensure adequate training of employees is in-place and being followed.  Provide feedback on a job well done and opportunities for improvement.  Address poor performance issues by administering corrective action plans and coaching through the guidance of HR and Production Manager.
    •    Communication: Responsible for conducting daily and weekly employee meetings to communicate up-dates, expectations and issues.  Seeks feedback from operators on safety, quality and delivery issues

Required (basic) qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in production operations management, Engineering or related field preferred; or 10 years of operations experience in lieu of degree.

3. Language & Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence such as Standard Work and Training are important. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
4. Project and/or Time Management: Ability to plan and organize work projects is desired and previous experience & examples of managing projects are beneficial.  Attention to detail and accuracy is important as well as the ability to be flexible under pressure.  Understands the importance of following pre-established guidelines and standard operating procedures and how these guidelines impact the performance of the manufacturing process.
