About the role

TSC's Innovation and Rapid Development Division is actively recruiting an experienced Aviation Maintenance Supervisor to ground and flight operations at the LEA Test & Formal Training Unit (FTU) located at Fort Huachuca, AZ (Sierra Vista).  Directly reports to the Test & Training Site Lead and manages maintenance aviation maintenance training and flight operations, while assisting with new technology insertion.

Leaders who are experienced in the aviation maintenance field with demonstrated leadership role in Aviation Maintenance are encouraged to apply.  The selected individual will ensure compliance with contractual and internal requirements to ensure operational maintenance procedures are followed and daily flight operations meets the high-quality performance standard that our internal, and external, customers demand.  As an integral member of the Aviation Operations leadership team, other duties may be assigned.

The successful candidate will be the primary focal point for maintenance activities at the Test and Training site, serving as the primary maintenance focal point and manager of; training, preventative/corrective maintenance of aircraft and supporting equipment, new technology insertion, aircraft production, as well as ensuring availability of required/calibrated tooling & consumables. The supported workforce is distributed across multiple geographically separated sites in support of sustained global aviation operation network.  This role is pivotal to supporting the Director of Aviation Operations and Program Manager to grow the scope of Service oriented deliverables in a high stake’s environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safe and effective daily operations of aircraft maintenance and flight line operations at the LEA Test and Training site.
  • Ensure all crew chiefs are in compliance with; flight & ground procedures, training procedures, and standardization & evaluation procedures.
  • Manage worksite safety, digital and paper logbooks, maintenance records, FOD and tool control, Technical Orders, part accounting. Assures timely, accurate records are maintained.
  • Create work calendars, Conduct Internal Audits and performance reviews. Works with the site manager to maintain accurate measures of performance of crewmembers.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and brief to the ADO and engineering/production team.
  • Maintain COMSEC accounts and demonstrate responsibility for hardware.
  • Track consumables, record MX failures and support MTBO / MTBF data tracking.
  • Maintains aircraft maintenance milestones and monitors adherence.
  • Maintains a list of critical parts and, components needed to keep the site on time and on schedule.
  • Manages use of parts and tools used during each shift, maintains inventories and location each shift.

Required Knowledge:

  • Through understanding of all physical aspects of airframe, powerplant, electrical systems, mechanical systems, RF systems, troubleshooting, personnel leadership.
  • Past history of FAA Flight and Maintenance standards, airworthiness, and safety.
  • Maintenance Instruction Experience in a training/operational capacity of aviation mechanics.
  • Adherence to DCMA procedures and reporting maintenance in logbooks.
  • Authoring maintenance manuals, Technical orders, Compliance Procedures.
  • FOD control program setup, adherence, execution.
  • Property control and logistics of GFE and COMSEC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or Technology and 6 years’ experience (or) 10+ years of applicable experience in Flight Operations in a Maintenance Capacity.
  • 3+ years (preferred) Flight Line or UAS flight operations experience.
  • US Citizenship with current secret level DoD security clearance.
  • FAA A&P certification or equivalent
  • Ability to meet the physical and medical standards necessary for FAA Class 3 Medical Certification*, in accordance with the essential duties of the role.
  • Leadership experience in Aviation Maintenance currently including crew chief qualified on RQ-29
  • Experience with Group 3-5 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), subsystems, and associated Aircraft Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, Fault Isolation).
  • Skilled in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including interpreting diagrams, schematics, and operational theory.
  • Proficient with ESD precautions, electrical safety measures, and tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Capable of performing line- and site-level maintenance, maintaining aircraft system logs, and managing configuration records.
  • Prior aviation experience in OCONUS (deployed) environments.
