Boeing is seeking a leader in BGS Support Equipment who has overall responsibility for the Support Equipment (SE) On-Platform organization, with products deployed world-wide to international, domestic and internal Boeing customers. On-Platform SE is comprised of products supporting the warfighter in the shadow of the aircraft. The position will be located in St. Louis, MO.
This Senior Manager (level M) position will lead a diverse team in the engineering design, development, production, and support of testing solutions, data analysis, supplier technical issue resolution, and proposal support for On-Platform SE including carts, testers, and cables. The candidate must be able to lead a high performing team across multiple work sites in multiple states while proactively communicating with the stakeholders, peers, partners, suppliers and direct reports. The team is comprised of various engineering and technical disciplines.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement to enhance workforce effectiveness, productivity, innovation, employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction.
- Lead knowledge management and knowledge transfer activities for the organization to ensure retention of critical skills and capabilities.
- Ability to analyze staffing levels including forecasting and managing personnel, budgets, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and organizational requirements.
- Determine critical skills within an organization and create staffing and development plans to ensure necessary skills are available to perform current and anticipated work.
- Monitor engineering processes and update, as needed.
- Support Chief Engineer in Change Board approvals and development activities.
- Oversee Engineering Proposal activity, review customer statement of work and coordinate changes as required.
- Oversee development of product roadmaps and associated investments and communicating these to executive leadership, business units, and Boeing research organizations.
- Support personnel developing new business strategies.
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience engineering large-scale systems and overall systems engineering disciplines
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in a managerial role
- Experience with legacy or new production US military aircraft platforms
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience in a management role working with both direct reports and business unit leaders
- 5+ years of Integrated Project Management experience including the use of tools and metrics (i.e., earned value, schedule metrics, technical performance metrics, risk and opportunity tools)
- 5+ years of experience leading business driven decisions to include budgets, staffing levels, Basis of Estimates (BoE), Request for Proposals (RFP), Statement of Work (SOW)
- Experience collaborating across Boeing functions (engineering, program management, contracts, finance, supply chain, supplier management, etc.) and business units (BDS, BGS, BAO, etc.)
- Experience with U.S. Military or international government aviation and experience partnering with government customers to deliver services and products
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
