*This is an early talent opportunity and pay range $60,000-$68,000 based on relevancy of experience including internship(s) and/or degree(s).

ICF seeks to hire a Program Assistant to the Scientific Assessments team at the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP). This position will primarily focus on the National Climate Assessment (NCA), amplifying the Fifth NCA and contributing to the development of the Sixth NCA.  The Program Assistant may also work on other USGCRP assessment efforts.

USGCRP coordinates and integrates the global change research and supporting activities conducted by 14 Federal Agencies and Departments, with the day-to-day activities and operations of the Program facilitated by the USGCRP National Coordination Office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support planning and implementation of the Sixth NCA and other USGCRP assessments

  • Serve as a USGCRP Point of Contact for 3-4 chapters of the Sixth NCA

  • Track and support events that amplify USGCRP assessments, such as conferences, webinars, and public engagement workshops.

  • Contribute to and support development of assessment-related products, such as white papers, press pitches, fact sheets, and derivative products.

  • Support planning team meetings, assessment leadership meetings, and author meetings; take notes and summarize discussions and action items.

  • Support development of tools and materials for assessment activities, such as author guidance materials, graphical resources

  • Manage existing tools, including web-based applications and databases, to assist in project management.

Minimum Qualifications

The Program Assistant to the Scientific Assessments team will have the following minimum qualifications and must act in a professional manner consistent with the USGCRP Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility statement.

The selected candidate must be able to work out of our client's office located in Washington DC. Staff are currently working remotely/hybrid. However, that is subject to change.

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (does not include sponsorship including OPT)

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or science, or a related field

  • Willingness to travel 1-5 times per year.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to successfully execute detailed projects and processes; prioritize projects or deliverables; and to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to problem solve.

  • Ability to work both as part of a professional team as well as independently.

  • Ability to be a self-starter, seek understanding, and identify opportunities to support overall program objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of relevant professional experience working on climate change or related field (does not include internship(s) only).

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in visual communication

  • Experience managing digital tools such as databases or spreadsheets.

  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are encouraged though not required.
