About the role

FULL-TIME ROTATE

The Food Service Worker performs various jobs for patient food preparation. Other related duties as assigned.

General Functions:

  • Performs duties for patient tray preparation, retail sales and catering
  • Assembles patients’ trays
  • Chops, slices and peels food
  • Transports carts to and from the different units
  • Delivers trays and snacks to the patient
  • Transports food to other areas as needed
  • Washes pots and pans by hand and by machine
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • Operates, cleans and sanitizes necessary equipment
  • Sweeps and mops all areas of the department
  • Collects and disposes of trash
  • Stocks and cleans nourishment rooms/refrigerators as assigned
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
  • Maintains safe work environment
  • Addresses patient population-specific needs
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Able to read, write and understand the English language.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year in patient-feeding food service establishment. 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
