Your role as Product Owner at M-Files
Shortly about us: M-Files is a global leader in medata-driven document management. To learn more, we encourage you to visit http://m-files.com/.
You’ll be stepping into an exciting key role at the company with lots of responsibility and ownership. You’ll be responsible for creating a product roadmap for our cloud service product, gathering business needs from different stakeholders, and translating them into features for your team to develop. You're able to recognize and clearly communicate the value of different features to the customer.
This role is slightly more technical than your average PO role, as the solution is a platform service and not an end-user product. Also, you’ll need to communicate about tech to non-techy stakeholders. Meaning, you get to put your technical background to good use while stepping into a more strategic role!
You’ll be owning our new product platform built with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) while making sure the existing solution runs smoothly. You can prioritize between the new product development, and the existing solution’s development and maintenance.
We offer you a base salary of 5500 EUR / month, depending on your skills and experience.
Check out this video from your future colleagues on what's it like being a PO at M-Files!
Your key responsibilities as Product Owner:
- Owning the roadmap, backlog, and solution architecture of the cloud service
- Making sure that the service responds to customer needs
- Communicating daily with different stakeholders (sales & business, partners, customers)
- Leading your team and facilitating team activities
What will success look like in this role within your first 30/90/360 days?
- 30 days: Running your team’s operative Scrum activities
- 90 days: Starting to contribute to the future development roadmap
- 360 days: Being a recognized owner of the cloud service within M-Files, and lead cloud service activities with other stakeholders
What is needed to succeed in this role:
- Excellent spoken & written English skills
- A collaborative, hands-on approach to work
- SaaS experience
We’ll be thrilled if you have experience with Azure & AKS – but these are not a must.
You don’t necessarily have to have Product Owner experience yet. What is most important is that you are eager to learn and want to start working more closely with business. Maybe you’ve gained some useful experience from the following?
- Been part of backlog prioritization, for example as a Tech Lead
- Facilitated sessions, such as retros or workshops
- Held demos
- Communicated to different stakeholders about development progress and challenges

“When I started discussions with M-Files 2,5 years ago, I wasn’t initially interested in switching jobs. Throughout my discussions, I learned that the product was interesting and business was doing good. But it was the people, the M-Filers, that made me take the leap.” -Our SVP of Product & Engineering Mika
