We have an exciting opportunity for a Environmental Control and Life Support System Water Team – Project/Test Engineer to join the team with Intuitive Machines a teammate company.
This new position is on the JETS Gateway Mission Design Team providing mission analysis and design across the Artemis Program. The selected applicant will:
The Environmental Control and Life Support System Water Team – Project/Test Engineer will:
Research, develop, and test technologies for water recovery from spacecraft wastewater, including urine and humidity condensate. Typical technologies include physical, chemical, and biological water processing, contaminant filtration, biocide introduction, and water quality monitoring.
Work in a laboratory environment with an interdisciplinary team of skilled and motivated engineers and scientists.
Work in a team environment and report to the project manager to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
Develop test plans, working with ECLSS Water Team to ensure the test strategy will provide sufficient information on the system performance and capabilities.
Develop test procedures and schedules, often through collaboration with various organizations across Johnson Space Center (JSC), including tasks associated with flight certification of hardware.
Design and build test rigs to enable hardware development test objectives.
Develop logistics, manufacturing and procurement plan.
Work with procurement personnel and vendors to order and secure procurements.
Inspect hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawing/models.
Maintain a safe working environment by performing hazard analyses and following JSC protocol.
Perform testing to assess performance characteristics of development hardware, which often includes chemical, mechanical, and electrical components.
Gather, compile, analyze, and present test results.
Communicate test results and development plans both orally and in writing through presentations, papers, and reports.
Develop project documentation and maintain status of drawings and procurements.
Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation.
Participate in requirements development, trade studies, and design reviews.
Develop proposals for work related to technology advancement.
Perform other duties as required, including but not limited to the review of technical proposals, guiding and overseeing subcontractor performance, and generating paperwork for flight hardware processing.
