Central Arizona Shelter Services is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to providing comprehensive support and services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. We strive to empower our clients by offering shelter, resources, and advocacy to help them achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

**Position Summary: **

The Senior Client Advocate plays a critical role in assessing and supporting clients in need of shelter services. This position involves screening clients for vulnerability and appropriateness for shelter using standardized tools, accepting external referrals, and managing the senior shelter interest list. The Senior Client Advocate will work closely with other team members to ensure that clients receive timely and effective assistance.

**Key Responsibilities: **

1. **Client Screening: **

  - Conduct thorough screenings of clients to determine their vulnerability and suitability for shelter using standardized assessment tools.

  - Ensure all screenings are conducted in a compassionate, respectful, and confidential manner.

2. **External Referrals: **

 - Accept and process external referrals from partner organizations, community agencies, and other stakeholders.

  - Coordinate with referral sources to gather necessary information and ensure a smooth intake process.

3. **Senior Shelter Interest List Management: **

  - Maintain and manage the senior shelter interest list, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurately reflects the current needs and priorities.

 - Regularly review and update the list based on client assessments and shelter availability.

4. **Client Advocacy: **

  - Advocate for clients' needs and assist them in accessing appropriate resources and services.

  - Provide information and support to clients regarding shelter policies, procedures, and available resources.

5. **Record Keeping and Reporting: **

  - Maintain accurate and detailed records of client assessments, referrals, and shelter placements.

  - Prepare regular reports on client screening outcomes, referral statuses, and interest list updates.

6. **Collaboration and Communication: **

  - Work closely with shelter staff, case managers, and other team members to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to client support.

  - Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and community outreach events as required.

**Qualifications: **

- Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in client advocacy, case management, or a related role, preferably within a shelter or homeless services context.

- MUST Have State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. (Apply for your Fingerprint clearance card at this website, if you do not have one already: https://psp.azdps.gov/account/finger-print.)

- MUST pass drug screen. (Must have medical card for positive results)

- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook; highly accurate data entry skills.

- CPR-First Aid certification

- Naloxone (Narcan) training 

- Strong understanding of issues related to homelessness, vulnerability assessment, and shelter services.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

- Proficiency in using standardized assessment tools and maintaining detailed records.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
