Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager to be based in Seattle, WA. This job is open to remote work
SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager provides technical advice, guidance and support related to complex and critical transit/rail infrastructures including civil, tunnel, bridges, and buildings related to planning, preliminary design, final design, procurement, and construction of transit and rail projects. The Senior Manager oversees development of rail tunnel ventilation, tunnel fire safety, and building fire safety strategy and requirements of transit and rail projects and ensures the design compliant with the requirements during design and construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads geotechnical and tunneling engineering activities including tunnel ventilation, fire protection, and fire life safety engineering, related to development of design criteria, planning, preliminary design and final design, procurement, and construction of tunnels for transit and rail projects.
- Provides technical input, support and guidance for studies and research related to alternative delivery methods of transit and rail projects, focusing on tunnel engineering, tunnel ventilation, fire protection and fire life safety engineering .
- Reviews analysis and interpretation of reports, studies, and plans in order to establish engineering position and interpretation of tunnel ventilation, fire protection, and fire life safety engineering related codes and third party and local agency requirements.
- Provides support, guidance and specialist input to various transit and rail agencies based on international experience of mega programs and relevant industry design standards and codes.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 20 + years of practical experience of geotechnical, structures, tunneling , tunnel fire life safety engineering for transportation infrastructure including major rail programs and high-speed rail programs.
- California registered Professional Engineer and/or equivalent international chartered engineer
- Experience in various contract delivery methods including design build.
- Subject matter expert in fire protection and fire life safety engineering, with specialist knowledge related to the design criteria and characteristics related to tunnels and buildings for major international projects.
- Ability to understand and interpret international, US and state engineering codes, technical requirements, design, and construction methods.
- Experience in managing design and construction of civil, structures, and tunnel
- Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering judgment in tunnel engineering, fire protection and fire life safety design and construction on major rail projects.
- Working relationships with public sector rail agencies, consultants, private sector contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and their associations.
