Senior Software Engineer/Developer

Job Description:

Position Description: 

Provides data conversion solutions by developing conversion software applications and routines using Statistical Analysis System (SAS), Linux, and Database 2 (DB2). Implements SAS programs to analyze software and related data. Leverages data conversion development methodologies and executes processes to troubleshoot user testing and problem resolution. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications. Conducts studies to improve project development procedures and strategies. Contributes to on-time and on-budget project goals.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to support on-going development efforts.  

• Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.  

• Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.  

• Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation. 

• Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing. 

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.  

• Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems. 

• Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope. 

• Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project. 

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives. 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing application design, development, and support using Base SAS, SAS Macros, and SAS SQL across Linux Mainframe platforms.  

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing application design, development, and support using Base SAS, SAS Macros, and SAS SQL across Linux Mainframe platforms. 

Skills and Knowledge: 

Candidate must also possess: 

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) participating in the full software development lifecycle -- coding, testing, deploying, implementing, and supporting of enterprise applications using BASE SAS, SAS MACROS, and SAS SQL; and developing custom reports in defined formats (csv or xls) using SAS reporting. 

• DE creating dashboard reports and visuals to track projects launching and error summarization using POWER BI and connecting to SQL server, Oracle, and Snowflake Databases. 

• DE performing data extraction, transformation, and loading using SAS, SQL, and Azure and migrating the On-prem data to cloud while ensuring data integrity. 

• DE translating business requirements into technical designs, coding, integration, and solutions using Adeptia to draw flowcharts.
