Department Overview

 The Vegetation Management (VM) Field Quality Control team performs quality control work with a focus on improving the quality of VM inspections and work processes. The team partners closely with leaders in Vegetation Management Execution, Vegetation Management Quality Control, Risk and Regulatory Compliance, and Quality Assurance to select and drive relevant projects to greater efficiency and productivity.

 

Position Summary

The Field Quality Control Program Manager oversees quality management programs to assess Vegetation Management operations, ensuring electric system safety, reliability and regulatory compliance with state and federal rules. The incumbent may also serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and education or influence leaders in the industry (PG&E, other utilities or other decision makers) on regulatory issues and program strategies. Works alongside team throughout a specific geographic area of operations, including work quality audits and direct assessment of inspection and tree contractor personnel. Works with customers and public entities to monitor and manage vegetation proximity to PG&E assets to contribute to system reliability and safety objectives.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location (North Coast/Bay Region) based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Location within the Sierra Region.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
CA Minimum: $78,000
CA Maximum: $118,000

Bay Area Minimum: $82,000
Bay Area Maximum: $124,000
 
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Audits and assesses vegetation management operations and outside contractor work performance in a specific multi-region area of responsibility.
  • Works with some guidance to complete assignments and solves moderately complex problems. Participates on and often leads project teams.
  • Communicates with peers, exchanging ideas or gathering information on overall program plan and goals within a specific functional area of operations.
  • Oversees quality control final reviews and contract drafts.
  • Partners with leadership across lines of business to support decisions and meet business goals.
  • Assists in implementing and creating new concepts, processes and ideas to drive the success of the vegetation and quality management programs.
  • Delivers on the program implementation plan.
  • Contributes to the implementation and creation of new concepts, processes and ideas to further vegetation management program advancement.
  • Manages multiple programs and projects that support other lines of business.
  • Manages internal quality observations including Quality Assurance, Quality Verification, Work Verification and Vegetation Management inspections.
  •  May assist in management of emergency work, for example, for severe storms, wildfires and power shutoff events. 
  • Reports out, provides updates and corrective actions, and participates in  daily huddles under the Lean Management model.
  •  May contribute to vegetation management safety investigations and corrective action plans.

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 3 years

 

Desired:

 

  • ISA – International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist
  • ISA-International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist certification
  • ISA-International Society of Arboriculture Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
  • Registered Profes
