Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Programs acts as a direct assistant to the Director of the David C. Driskell Center in all aspects of managing, planning and coordinating activities across its library, gallery and archives. The position will be regularly involved in most planning discussions and meetings and will be assigned tasks according to the Center's priorities. Tasks may include management of the center's schedule of exhibitions and other events, coordinating related education programming and marketing for both on-campus and external audiences. It will also assist the Director in the development program, from investigating and writing grant applications to identifying and helping to develop donor relationships. The position provides full administrative and communications support at a senior level to the Director to ensure the smooth management of day-to-day affairs, handles sensitive and complex issues in a professional and objective manner and manages online communications with members and the general public. The position must take initiative as appropriate, especially in the Director's absence.Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Seven (7) years of professional experience managing business operations. Two (2) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of business acumen to understand key business drivers, organizational communications, and data.
Knowledge of organizational and unit performances measures.
Knowledge of the impact and implications of decisions on leadership objectives.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in data analytics and negotiation.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift up to 10 pounds and carry parcels, packages and other items; to walk short distances; and travel to deliver and pick up materials.
Licenses/Certifications:
N/A
Preferences:
Master’s in Art History, Museum Studies, or related fields.
Five (5) years of full-time experience working in a museum or art gallery.
Some knowledge in the areas of artwork and items in the Center’s care.
Knowledge of museum theory and practices, including collections management.
Knowledge of collections management databases, cloud-based work management software (e.g., Trello, Asana), and Microsoft Suite.
Demonstrated experience with the management of exhibitions and art education programs.
