Cloud Platform Engineer (DevOps)

The Platform Engineering team at Clearstory is responsible for all aspects of accelerating the delivery of value to our customers across three key areas: CI/CD, Monitoring and Observability, and Backend Infrastructure. Working as a partner with Quality Specialists and Software Engineers, you will work with our CTO to level up our product delivery and DevEx game by supporting multiple development environments, including Dev, Staging and Production. By tuning our CI/CD tools you will make our automated tests an integral part of getting fast feedback in our workflow. You will also keep our infrastructure up and running efficiently by leveraging DataDog, Sentry and other tools.

You will be the first dedicated full-time member of our Platform Engineering team, and therefore will have an outsized impact on our ability to deliver high quality code quickly.

What you’ll do

• Responsibilities:
• Champion DevEx by streamlining tooling and processes to maximize both developer and QA productivity and reduce friction in the development process.
• Collaborate closely with the CTO to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing pre-production and production environments.
• Actively monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
• Employ a Developer/Operations (DevOps) approach, working closely with QA Specialists and Software Engineers
• Define, promote and maintain runbooks and operating procedures; create and maintain system and architecture diagrams
• Manage security and compliance for all environments, including our SOC2 compliance process
• Mentor and support the development team, acting as a force multiplier, aiding in their growth and productivity.
• Embrace a startup culture: be adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of wearing multiple hats.

You'll work on key force multiplier projects such as:

• Standardize our various environments so that we can reliably and quickly build, deploy and test
• Improve our monitoring and observability efforts, working with the development team to identify and troubleshoot technical issues impacting our internal team and customers
• Amplify our test automation efforts by utilizing test data management and other tools to increase the speed of our feedback loops
