Engineering Manager (Microservices Platform)

TITLE:                       Engineering Manager (Microservices Platform)

DUTIES:                     Define the microservice platform’s networking architecture. Improve system and application security, reliability, observability, and scalability. Improve platform management operations with Kubernetes cluster management. Manage cloud resources with code. Maintain and operate infrastructure. Develop core functions of infrastructures and applications. Improve the on-call rotation process. Conduct and improve post-mortem review meetings. Remote work permitted within the U.S.

SCHEDULE:              40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

SALARY:                   Zone 1: $181,229.10 - $204,000

                                   Zone 2: $181,229.10 - $183,600

                                   Zone 3: $181,229.10

LOCATION:              Mercari, Inc., 3000 El Camino Real, STE 5-150, Palo Alto, CA 94306

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:     Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study and at least three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer or closely related occupation.

ALTERNATE REQUIREMENTS:     In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience, employer will accept five (5) years of stated experience

Special Skills:              Also requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

• Go and Kubernetes;
• Shell scripting;
• Network proxies like Envoy, HAProxy, or Nginx;
• OSI Layer 4 to 7: Load Balancers, Linux, Cloud, GCP/AWS and Kubernetes networking; and
• API gateways, DNS, TLS, and HTTP protocol.
