Description

As a member of an ambitious and creative communications team, the Communications Lead reports  to the Vice President of Communications and collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to support and promote DiMe’s project work. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with internal groups to develop and execute strategic communications plans for all project kickoffs, resource launches, and mid-stream campaigns. This includes setting measurable communications goals and tactics; identifying key audiences, messaging, and channels; and establishing a timeline, deadlines for execution, and KPI tracker to measure success
    • Specific areas include DATAcc by DiMe projects and DiMe’s Product Assessment & Impact work (including, but not limited to, International Regulatory Pathways, Integrated Evidence Plans, etc.). As such, experience in writing on highly scientific and technical topics (digital measures, digital regulations) – in a way that tells a compelling and clear story to broader audiences – is a must 
  • Working closely across all internal and external groups to lead key message development, coordinate design/digital needs, lead coordination meetings, and execute communication deliverables (according to the strategic plan and on deadline)
  • Writing content for a range of communications channels, including website copy, blogs, bylines, social media posts, and more  
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Communications to ensure project communications efforts and messaging align with DiMe’s brand, its organizational-level vision story, and thought leadership priorities
  • As needed, provide written and/or editorial support for various DiMe organizational communications pieces
  • Ongoing, manage the research, analysis, evaluation, and adjustment of DiMe’s communications channels and materials; offer new recommendations and enhancements to be more strategic, efficient, and/or effective
  • Ensuring communications best practices and brand/messaging consistency across the organization

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Subject matter expertise: Must be an expert in translating highly technical information from DiMe subject matter experts (SMEs) into clear, informative, and motivating messaging for key audiences  

  • Project management skills: Must have advanced project management skills with strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines

  • Content creation: Must have strong writing and editing skills with minimal oversight; should bring creativity and storytelling into project announcements and communications materials 

  • Strategic planning: Must be proficient in strategically planning multiple project activities. Should have the ability to anticipate and plan for future opportunities and needs, and be able to contribute ideas to higher-level strategic planning

  • Communication skills: Must have advanced skills in speaking, writing, holding productive discussions, and problem-solving across multiple internal/external groups

  • Leadership: Must have advanced informal leadership skills (e.g. proactively building informal partnerships with colleagues to enable knowledge sharing and acting as a model for the team)

Qualifications

  • Passion for delivering high-quality work with a sense of urgency

  • Possess a unique skill blend of organized, creative, detail-oriented, and proactive

  • Proven success in: 

    • Morphing technical content into compelling messaging and creative storytelling 

    • Relationship building with various internal and external constituents

    • Planning, managing, and assessing multiple integrated communications campaigns and/or projects, simultaneously

    • Building processes and structure for a newer organization, division, and/or initiative

  • At least 10+ years of communications experience (work in agency, healthcare and/or technology is preferred, not required)

  • A master's degree in a public relations, communications, and/or marketing field (preferred, not required)

  • Experience in Asana, Canva, and/or Google Workspace is preferred, not required
